Product Description

AvueDam sheets is used for isolating one or more teeth from the oral environment.

When excavating a deep carious lesion and risking pulpal exposure, the use of a rubber dam is strongly recommended to prevent pulpal contamination from oral fluids. The dam eliminates saliva from the operating site and retracts the soft tissue.

In dentistry, the use of a rubber dam is sometimes referred to as isolation or moisture control.

Indications

It is used mainly in endodontics fixed prosthodontics (crowns, bridges) and general restorative treatments.
Its purpose is both to prevent saliva interfering with the dental work (e.g. contamination from oral micro-organism during root canal therapy)
Used to keep filling materials such as composite dry during placement and curing.
Used to prevent instruments and materials from being inhaled, swallowed or damaging the mouth.

Instructions

1. Use latex-free dental dam, as it can be used on all patient.

2. Make sure the punch is sharp and well aligned to achieve a clean hole, otherwise the dam sheet will tear when stretched. Note largest hole for molars and the second-smallest hole for all other teeth being clamped.

3. Clamps

These are mainly made of stainless steel and are either winged or wingless. The wingless clamp tends to be put on the tooth first and then the dam sheet is stretched over the clamp in the mouth. The winged clamp tends to be put into the hole in the dental dam first (outside of the mouth) and then positioned onto the tooth altogether.

Tip:

Over-expanding dental dam clamps may result in their distortion and fracture.

4.Clamp forceps

Used to transfer, position, adjust and remove the clamp from the tooth

5.Dental dam frame

Retracts and holds the edges of the dental dam sheet in place. This is made from metal or plastic in an oval or more commonly 'U' shape.
